低辐射镀膜玻璃（又称low－e玻璃），就是在玻璃原片镀上多层金属或金属氧化膜，其中一层或两层以ag为主的特殊膜层，可有效降低太阳能吸收或控制能量损失，使玻璃的传热系数大辐度降低，它可以将白玻所传递热量尤其是远红外辐射的50%－80%阻隔反射掉，同时允许全部或部分可见光通过的镀膜玻璃，用low－e镀膜玻璃加工的中空玻璃不仅有良好的节能隔热效果，而且有良好的采光隔声性能，优于常规中空玻璃，可达到stc级别的37水平，也可以高效屏蔽紫外线；可以屏蔽85%－99.5%的紫外线，在极大程度上减小强紫外线直射对人或装饰物带来各种危害。对植物有保护作用；在有效遮挡致使植物枯萎的阳光成分，同时还允许促进植物生长的可见光入室。
